How Can severe Head Pressure Along With Chest Pain Be Treated?

hello, i have been having pressure in my head, some sharp pain in my chest, trouble breathing, body gets tingly, and i have episodes where i feel like passing out. i am 27 years and this has been happening for 4 months now. i was told it is anxiety before.

Hello,

The episodes you describe are typical for anxiety and this is very likely what you are experiencing. When anxiety happens in episodes (crises) we call them panic attacks. They generally last few minutes but less then half an hour and the patient might feel numb or like he is going to faint and this is due to decrease of CO2 in blood from fast breathing.

To help with the symptoms you need to be in a quiet place, try to control your breathing (this takes a little experience) and you can breath in a paper bag (not plastic bag) so you breath in the air you breath out so the CO2 in blood is not reduced.

If the episodes are not helped this way or you are having them too often, medications can help with them. SSRI is the group of choice to treat them (paroxetine, escitalopram, etc) and maybe counseling might help you as well.
